Sarah and Michael were set up by a mutual friend from their church and immediately had a connection. "We realized that we had actually met a year before, and that we had a mutual group of good friends," Sarah shares. "Our grandmothers had also been best friends from the childhood church we attended, and our families were actually old friends!"

It was during a wine-tasting trip at Chateau des Charmes in Niagara-on-the-Lake that Michael popped the question. "We were on a private wine tour, and Michael led us to a private picnic in a beautiful room of the estate," Sarah explains. "He got down on one knee and proposed!"

The couple's wedding followed Sarah's longtime vision of having a navy and blush wedding. "The theme was just a collection of everything I liked, and it turns out that my wedding looked a lot like my very own floral studio in North York, Toronto," Sarah says. Elements of gold and rose gold were incorporated in the details.

A favourite element of the celebration was the floral wall Sarah and Michael crafted with their family and the employees of Sarah's floral design company, DeLight Floral + Design. "It's definitely made with lots of love and care," Sarah says. "Since it was a winter wedding, our photo backdrops were limited as we couldn't bank on taking photos outside. I wanted a grand and beautiful backdrop that could function as our first look backdrop and a photo op area for our bridal party, family and all our guests."

The floral wall made their first look all the more memorable. "It was so wonderful to finally see each other after months of planning," Sarah says with a smile. "It truly hit us that we were finally getting married!" Sarah also crafted her own bouquet, composed of gorgeous silk peonies in peach, blushes, dusty greens with a pop of lavender. "I've been creating for so many brides in the past, I couldn't believe it was finally my turn!" Sarah recalls. "Because there weren't a lot of flowers in season, I had to work with what I had. I loved my own bouquet-it was a complete reflection of who I am and I couldn't have been happier with it!"
